Powdered Sugar Icing

Just made Halloween sugar cookie cut outs for a care package to send to my daughters at college. I am not the best decorator but they do taste yummy!!

This is the icing I use on the Sugar Cookies when I make them.  It’s simple yet you can do many things with it.  Adding different flavored extracts or even spices to it will enhance it.

Ingredients

1 cup powdered sugar
1 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla (optional)
food coloring (optional)

Combine sugar, milk and vanilla and blend well.  Stir in enough additional milk, 1 tsp at a time till icing is smooth and the consistency you would like.  Add drops of food coloring to tint, if desired. If you are using it as white icing as I do on the cookies, omit the vanilla. It will turn the icing an off white color.  You may have to play with the amount of milk to get it to the right consistency for icing cookies.

I also use this as a glaze on quick breads or muffins. Just add a bit more milk till it is at a point you can drizzle.
