I have been meaning to post this review for so long now but once again, all the studying I had to do took priority.  I wish I would have posted this back when I first finished reading Melissa D’Arabian’s Supermarket Healthy Cookbook because it has such great recipes and information about the foods we should be eating (if you’re not already).  I am huge fan of Melissa’s from the time she won Next Food Network Star and her cooking show, 10 Dollar Dinners.  So it came as no surprise to me that this newest of her books continued with the saving money and eating healthy plus delicious meals.

The book starts with “hot button issues” that delve into buying organic, non-GMO, and even gluten-free issues.  Great information there!  Next Melissa discusses what should be in your supermarket healthy pantry and let me tell you – some items on this list are new to me and I’m excited to give them a try.  The cookbook is divided up into sections starting with Breakfast and ending with Desserts.  Very detailed recipes with brilliant colorful pictures of what the end result should look like.  I love that she gives information about cooking techniques that some may not be familiar with or how to plan a a four-step dinner with less hassle.

I’m looking forward to preparing some of the recipes in this book, like the Almond Waffles with Raspberry-Basil Sauce, the Fried Green Tomato, Bacon, and Spinach Sandwich or the Coffee Rubbed Pork Tenderloin.  There are recipes for vegetarians, meat-lovers, and in-between in this book.

  2. I’m not a terrific cook so I refer to the old Betty Crocker basic cookbook often for basic things. I go to Food.Com or other internet sites for other things.

  10. I didn’t really have a cookbook that I would go to for inspiration. That is until I found a double cookbook in SAMs while shopping one day. I mean, who can pass up 2 cookbooks for the price of one? The cookbook that is now my go to cookbook is Trisha Yearwoods first 2 cookbooks, Home Cooking with Trisha Yearwoods and Georgia Cooking from an Oklahoma Kitchen.

    1. I”m going to have to check out those two cookbooks. I love Trisha’s show on Food Network. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your cookbooks!

  14. I have so many cookbooks, that I can’t tell you my favorite. But one that is memorable for me is Suzanne Somers, “Eat Great Lose Weight.” It was really the first cookbook that I bought that taught me how to cook and eat real/whole foods. The recipes are easy and delicious. I later picked up her other books and so many more over the years. I began my love of cooking with this book sometime around 2002.

  15. I have several cookbooks but the most used one is Great Good Food! It has comments, dried food and sticky notes throughout!

    1. I’ve been finding the classics online from when I was younger, which is a thrill for me as I have lost a few cookbooks over the year. Thanks for entering and good luck Pamela!

  17. I have a cookbook that was my mother’s. It is older than I am and sad to say that the pages are becoming brittle and old and the cover has been gone for so many years I don’t even remember the title but I love it. It has everything you can think of in it. Best cookbook ever!
