Ham and Cheese Sliders

On the days when dinner is going to be late, I like quick meals or something made in the crockpot.  This meal is one of those quick ones, and as simple as it is, it’s full of flavor. I made one turkey for my non-ham-eating daughter and she said it was very good. I used the Hawaiian mini sub rolls instead of the ordinary dinner rolls and it turned out so good.  I also thought they would be a bit soggy on the bottom but I was proved wrong. They were toasted and crisp.  Try them, today.

Ingredients:

12 dinner rolls
12 slices deli ham
12 slices Swiss cheese
1/3 cup light mayo

Poppy Seed Sauce:

5 tbsp butter
1 tbsp yellow mustard (or Dijon)
1/2 tbsp poppy seeds
1/2 tbsp minced onion
1/4 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Directions:

Cut the rolls down middle.  Spread a teaspoon of light mayo on bottom half of each roll.

Place bottom halves of rolls in a 13 x 9 baking dish. (I sprayed the bottom lightly with non-stick spray)
Top each bottom with one slice of ham and one slice of Swiss cheese.  Cover each roll with their top half.

In a small microwavable-safe bowl, melt the butter in the microwave.  Whisk in the remaining poppy seed sauce ingredients.
Carefully pour the poppy seed sauce evenly over all of the rolls.  Let stand about 10 minutes or until butter has set slightly.

Cover the baking dish with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes.

Remove foil and place back into oven for 2 minutes or until cheese has melted.

Serve warm.Enjoy!
