Equipment

  • griddle or skillet
  • shallow bowl
  • fork
  • spatula

Ingredients

  • 8 slices white bread slices
  • 2 eggs
  • ¾ cup milk
  • teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Heat a square griddle pan or large skillet over medium-low heat. If your pan isn’t non-stick, you may need to use non-stick spray or a little butter to keep the slices of bread from sticking.
  • Whisk together eggs, milk, and vanilla in a small bowl.
  • Coat each side of a slice of bread in the mixture, then place on the griddle. Cook for 6-7 minutes, then flip over, and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, until golden brown on both sides. Serve hot with butter and syrup.
  • If you’re cooking a large batch of French toast, you can keep the cooked slices warm in a 200 degree oven for up to 30 minutes. Place a wire rack on a large baking sheet and place the French toast slices on the rack. Don’t leave it in the oven for too long or it will dry out. It is best served fresh and hot!
