Air Fryer Kale Chips

Grab your air fryer and a few ingredients to turn fresh kale into a crisp, delicious, and healthy snack.

Ingredients

  • Non-stick spray
  • 1 bunch fresh kale leaves (or 1 bag of fresh kale)
  • 1/2 - 1 tsp garlic salt (use amount to your taste)
  • 1 tsp onion powder

Instructions

  • Using Fresh Kale:  Start by cutting the leaves of the kale from the stalks.  I just slice each side of the leaves down the stalk to remove them.  Rinse them off to remove any dirt or grit.  Dry well with paper towels. Tear or cut
Alternatively, you can buy a bag of fresh kale already torn into large pieces.
  • Lay the torn kale leaves on a baking sheet:  spray lightly with nonstick spray and then lightly season the leaves with whatever seasoning you would like. I like garlic salt and onion powder but a taco seasoning is great as well.  Flip the leaves over repeat with the spray and seasonings.
  • Once you have them seasoned, place a single layer of leaves in the basket of the air fryer.  Set the fryer on 375 degrees and let cook for 3 minutes, and then turn them over and let cook for another 3 minutes or until crispy.  If you have a air fryer rack, place it over the leaves to keep them from blowing around.  If not, simply check a couple of times to make sure no kale chip has blown up into the heating element.  It's not a pretty smell if that happens!
  • Remove kale chips from air fryer when done and place on rack to cool. Once cool, enjoy and then store them in an airtight container.
