Equipment

  • blender

Ingredients

Non-alcoholic version

  • 1 16 ounce bag frozen strawberries
  • cup fresh orange juice (1 - 2 large oranges)
  • cup fresh lime juice (3 large limes)
  • cup water
  • 1 - 2 tablespoons simple syrup * (optional)
  • ice, optional
  • lime slices and fresh strawberries for garnish, optional

Alcohol version

  • 1 16 ounce bag frozen strawberries
  • ¼ cup fresh lime juice (2 large limes)
  • 4 ounces white tequila
  • 2 ounces orange-flavored liqueur

Instructions

Making the simple syrup *

  • Dissolve 1 cup sugar with 1 cup water in a small saucepan.  Heat to a boil, stirring, until sugar has dissolved. Allow to cool. Store in refrigerator up to a week.

To make non-alcoholic version

  • Place half the frozen strawberries into a high-powered blender. Add lime juice, orange juice, and water.  Cover and blend on highest setting until smooth, approximately 1-2 minutes.
  • Remove vent cap on blender lid and add the remaining frozen strawberries one at a time while the blender is still running. Continue blending until all strawberries have been added and the mixture is completely smooth.
  • Taste, and if you would like the drinks a little sweeter, add 1 - 2 tablespoons of the cooled simple syrup.  Blend once again to mix.  For thicker margaritas, add some ice until desired consistency is reached. For thinner consistency, add a little water.
  • Pour into serving glasses and garnish with lime slices and/or fresh strawberries right before serving.

With alcohol verison

  • Use the ingredients for the alcohol version, and follow the blender instructions above.
