Double the Chocolate and Banana Cake
This double chocolate cake with bananas is super moist and because it contains no oil or butter, it is a bit healthier to eat.
- 1 cup flour
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
- 3 ripe bananas mashed
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup applesauce
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 egg
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Handful of mini chocolate chips for topping totally optional
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray an 8 inch square pan with non-stick spray.
In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Set aside.
Combine the mashed bananas and sugar into a large mixing bowl of a stand mixer or use an electric hand mixer and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Add the applesauce, vanilla and egg stirring to combine.
Add the flour mixture to the batter and combine.
By hand, fold in the chocolate chips and pour cake batter into the prepared baking pan.
If desired, sprinkle mini chocolate chips over the top and bake for 25-30 minutes.
