Turtle Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 3/4 cup white granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup caramel bits
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

For decorating the cookies

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted
  • additions chocolate chips, caramel bits, and pecan halves.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prepare large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until fluffy and well combined. Add the eggs one at a time and mix well after each addition. Then, add the vanilla.
  • Slowly add the flour mixture, scraping down the sides as needed. Fold in the chocolate chips, caramel bits, and pecans.
  • Using a tablespoon cookie scoop, portion the dough and place on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart. Press pecan halves or extra morsels into the top of each cookie dough ball.
  • Bake the cookies for 8 to 10 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool 5 to 7 minutes on the cookie sheets before transferring them to a wire rack to completely cool. Drizzle with additional chocolate, if desired.
