Keyword: angel cookies, angel nutter butter cookies, angels, Christmas Cookies, nutter butter cookies, peanut butter
Servings: 12 cookies

Ingredients

  • 12 Nutter Butter Cookies
  • 23 small pretzel twists (2 for each cookie)
  • 12 pineapple flavored Lifesaver candies
  • White candy melts or vanilla flavored almond bark
  • Chocolate candy melts or chocolate flavored almond bark
  • toothpick

Instructions

  • Line a baking sheet with waxed paper.
  • Melt white candy according to package directions making sure not to overheat. If the candy gets too hot, it will seize. If desired, add 1 teaspoon of vegetable shortening or coconut oil to make the melted candy pourable.
  • Dip the pretzel twists in melted candy, allowing the excess to drip back into the bowl. Place the pretzels on waxed paper until dry. Rearrange the pretzels into pairs for wings.
  • Dip Nutter Butter cookies in the melted candy, allowing excess to drip back into the bowl. Place the cookie on the pretzel wings and immediately add the Lifesaver candy as a halo. Allow the cookie to dry completely before continuing with step 5.
  • Melt chocolate candy according to package directions making sure not to overheat. If the candy gets too hot, it will seize. If desired, add 1 teaspoon of vegetable shortening or coconut oil to make the melted candy pourable.
  • Using a toothpick dipped into the melted chocolate, draw two half circles on the uncoated portion of each cookie to be the eyes and a larger dot as the mouth. Allow the cookies to dry completely.

Notes

  • I used Pineapple Lifesavers for the angels' halo but feel free to use another color.
  • I prefer to use these candy melts, but melting white chocolate chips and semi-sweet chocolate chips can be used.
  • Small pretzel twists work best for the wings.
  • Get creative and make your angels different colors by adding a couple of drops of food-safe color gel to the white chocolate.
  • Refrigerate the cookies to help speed up the drying of the chocolate.
