Equipment

  • parchment paper
  • Tray or baking sheet
  • microwave safe bowls
  • Piping bag and piping tip

Ingredients

  • 1 pint fresh strawberries
  • 1 ½ cups white chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Rinse the strawberries and allow them to dry completely (pat dry if need be) before continuing. If your fresh berries are not dry, the chocolate may not stick.
  • Line a baking sheet or tray with parchment paper. Set the strawberries on the parchment paper, an inch or so apart.
  • Add the white chocolate chips to a microwave-safe bowl, and heat in 30-second intervals, stirring between each heat session, until fully melted.
  • Dip the strawberries into the melted white chocolate, leaving just a little bit of the red strawberry showing. Set on the parchment paper, and wiggle slightly to make the “ghost tail”. If the strawberries are hard to hold while dipping, use a toothpick inserted in the green leaves to help hold the berry.
  • Melt the chocolate chips, and add the melted chocolate to a pastry bag equipped with a small round piping tip. Pipe the eyes and mouth onto the ghosts – two small dots for the eyes, then for the mouth, do a dot and move down a bit to make it “screaming”.
  • Allow the strawberries to set before serving them.
