Halloween White Chocolate Covered Strawberry Ghosts
Strawberry ghosts are simply adorable while trying to be scary, and they taste delicious. The Halloween treats are perfect to make when you need a last-minute dessert. Two ingredients, no baking, and just a little bit of time are all you need to make these easy Halloween White Chocolate Strawberry Ghosts.
The hardest part of this recipe (and all of the Halloween strawberries) is trying not to eat them all while making them for your Halloween party. Seriously.
Why doesn’t the melted chocolate stick to the strawberries?
To solve this issue, be sure your strawberries are completely dry before dipping them into melted chocolate. This will ensure the chocolate will stick.

Equipment
- Parchment paper
- Tray or baking sheet
- Piping bag and piping tips
- Microwave-safe small bowl to melt the chocolate in
Ingredients
- 1 pint strawberries
- 1 ½ cup white chocolate chips
- ¼ cup chocolate chips
How to Make Strawberry Ghosts
Step 1
Rinse the strawberries and allow them to dry completely (pat dry if need be) before continuing. If your fresh berries are not dry, the chocolate may not stick.
Step 2
Line a baking sheet or tray with parchment paper. Set the strawberries on the parchment paper, an inch or so apart.
Step 3
Add the white chocolate chips to a microwave-safe bowl, and heat in 30-second intervals, stirring between each heat session, until fully melted.
Step 4
Dip the strawberries into the melted white chocolate, leaving just a little bit of the red strawberry showing. Set on the parchment paper, and wiggle slightly to make the “ghost tail”. If the strawberries are hard to hold while dipping, use a toothpick inserted in the green leaves to help hold the berry.
Step 5
Melt the chocolate chips, and add the melted chocolate to a pastry bag equipped with a small round piping tip. Pipe the eyes and mouth onto the ghosts – two small dots for the eyes, then for the mouth, do a dot and move down a bit to make it “screaming”.
Step 6
Allow the strawberries to set before serving them.
Tips, Tricks, and FAQs
- If you find your chocolate is too thick, add a bit of shortening to thin it.
- You can use white chocolate melting wafers in place of the white chocolate chips.
- Can you make the strawberries in advance? I don’t recommend making them more than a couple of hours in advance for the best flavor.
- Store the strawberry mummies at room temperature if you are serving them soon. Leftover strawberries can be placed on a plate (uncovered) in the refrigerator for 1 or 2 days.
- Be sure the strawberries are dry before adding the melted chocolate.
- If you don’t have a piping bag, you can easily use a ziplock bag. Just cut a small piece from the corner tip of the bag.
- You can use candy eyes in place of melted chocolate chips for eyes. Even mini chocolate chips work. Or if you prefer, you can use melted dark chocolate.
