A slice of warm cherry dump cake, topped with a scoop of melting vanilla ice cream, sits on a white plate with a floral pattern. A silver fork rests on the left side of the plate, which is set against a red and white checkered tablecloth. The dessert features bubbly, bright red cherries and a golden-brown, slightly crumbly cake topping.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (21 ounces each) Comstock Simply Cherry Pie Filling
  • 1 box yellow cake mix (I used Pillsbury)
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, sliced into pats

Instructions

  • Pour cherry pie filling into bottom of slow cooker.
  • Top cherries with DRY cake mix, spread in an even layer (DO NOT MIX)
  • Cut butter into slices and add on top of DRY cake mix, in an even layer. (DO NOT MIX)
  • Cover and let cook for two hours on high. You'll know when it's done. The cake will be slightly golden brown and the cherries will seep through the cake layer some.  You can also use a toothpick to test for doneness, just as you would with a cake in the oven.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream, if desired.
