- 6 tablespoons garlic powder
- 6 tablespoons onion powder
- 4 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 - 2 tablespoons Kosher salt
- 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper, more or less to your taste
- I like to double the recipe and store it in a mason jar. I like to use small mason jars to store my homemade spice and seasoning blends. I also love to repurpose the glass Starbucks coffee drink bottles for my spices.
- Store your seasoning in an airtight container, preferably in a cool, dark place, to keep it fresh for months. Glass jars work well, and you can even repurpose small spice jars for this purpose.
- Check the expiration date of your spices and herbs. You want to make sure you have the freshest ingredients.
- Always label your container with the name of the blend and the date you made it.
- The list of ingredients is to my tastes, but if you prefer it less spicy or more adjust the spices as needed.
- You can also control the amount of salt used.
- This seasoning mix is also great to use in place of your favorite store-bought Mexican seasoning blend.
