Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate Recipe
This Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate Recipe is the perfect way to warm up on those cold nights. It’s rich, creamy, and so chocoolate-y. Great way to serve the hot drink to family and friends.
Sipping on a cup of a rich and creamy hot cocoa is one of my favorite ways to warm up on a cold day. Add a few marshmallows and it’s just a bit of heaven to me. I wanted to serve hot chocolate at a family gathering but really didn’t want to make the drink on the stove top as it’s a bit harder to keep it warm throughout the festivities.
By using a slow cooker to make the creamy chocolate-y drink I can serve it warm each time and spend time with my family without being in the kitchen. Don’t forget to bake a batch of the best chocolate chip cookies to go with the hot chocolate.
If you prefer dark chocolate, and I do from time to time, make this dark hot chocolate drink. It’s easy to make and delicious.
Will the Milk Curdle in the Slow Cooker?
No! Since you aren’t actually cooking the milk, it will not curdle. You’re using the crock pot on low to melt and warm all of the ingredients before serving.
Can I replace the heavy cream?
You could replace the heavy cream with all milk or half-and-half cream, but the hot chocolate won’t be as rich and creamy.
Make the Best Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate
Using quality ingredients will result in the best cup of hot chocolate. I like to use Ghirardelli semi-sweet chocolate chip and cocoa powder for this recipe. For the milk, whole is best but 2% will work well if you have that heavy cream in there.
Add mini marshmallows or a candy cane to add a bit of peppermint to your mug of hot chocolate. Perfect to serve on Christmas Eve while watching your favorite Christmas movie or while playing this fun Bobbing for Candy Canes game.
