My family loves pasta and chicken, together and separate. So, when I make this easy recipe for Bang Bang Chicken Pasta they are over the moon happy. When I make this bang bang shrimp pasta dish and these grilled chicken skewers with the zesty sauce, they always ask when I am making them again.
I am not a person who loves food so spicy that you can’t taste anything else, I leave that to my youngest daughter who loves spicy foods. I mean a 7-pot pepper is her level of hot. To me, that is a reason to call 911 if I even get the essence of a habanero pepper. But this bang bang chicken is a perfect blend of sweet and spicy for even those who can’t handle spice too much. I also enjoy this Cajun Chicken Pasta dish, it has just the right amount of spice for me.
Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- It’s a 30-minute meal!
- The sauce is creamy and zesty.
- It combines two popular foods – pasta and chicken.
Easy Bang Bang Chicken Pasta
We all need easy dinner recipes that are easy to prepare and get food on the table fast. This chicken pasta recipe fits all of those categories and more – it’s darn tasty!
Many recipes for this bang bang chicken call for the chicken pieces to be fried with cornstarch coating or panko breadcrumbs. I’m not opposed to that; however, I prefer to skip the frying and simply brown the chicken in the skillet with a little olive oil. Less mess and healthier.
The bang bang sauce is a sweet and spicy mayonnaise-based sauce that is good on fish, chicken, fried potatoes, and just about everything! The first time I had it with a shrimp appetizer at Bonefish Grill and loved it.
This spicy sauce in the recipe can be made as spicy as you wish or with just a bit of heat as we like it. It is not a sauce that will cover the pasta like a marinara sauce would. Instead, it lightly coats the pasta and tender chicken and is most delicious.
Try this chicken and pasta recipe and it will delight your taste buds and become a regular dinner on your menu.
Equipment
- Skillet or cast iron pan
- Pot to cook the pasta in
- Small bowl
Ingredients
For the chicken and pasta:
- 12 ounces spaghetti noodles
- 3/4 pound chicken breast, boneless, skinless, and cut into 1-inch cubes

- 2 cloves of garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
For the sauce:
- 2/3 cup light mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup Thai sweet chili sauce
- 2 – 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1/8 – 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
How to Make Bang Bang Chicken Pasta
Step 1
Cook pasta according to package directions for al dente. Drain and keep warm.
Step 2
While the pasta is cooking, heat a large skillet or cast iron pan to medium-high heat, and add 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet.
Step 3
Season chicken with paprika, salt and pepper. When hot, add the chicken and brown on all sides, cooking till the chicken is done. Don’t crowd the chicken – cook in batches, if necessary.
Step 4
While the chicken is cooking, prepare the sauce. In a small bowl, combine all ingredients for the sauce and mix with a whisk until smooth. Taste and adjust as needed. Add more sriracha if you need to.
Step 5
When the chicken is just about done, add the garlic and let it cook for about 30 seconds – until you smell the aroma of it. Turn the heat to low. Toss the drained spaghetti noodles in with the chicken and garlic. Pour about 2/3 of the sauce into the chicken and pasta, tossing to combine.
Note: It is not a sauce that will cover the pasta like a marinara sauce would. Instead, it lightly coats the pasta and chicken.
Step 6
Warm the remaining sauce in the microwave and use it to top each serving of chicken and pasta, if desired. Serve this delicious recipe with a tossed salad or vegetable.

This sounds delicious, Lisa, and I’m all ears if it’s a fast fix. I can’t wait to give it a try. Pinning! Thanks for sharing.
It is a quick meal and according to one of my daughter’s it wasn’t spicy enough. Then again, nothing is spicy enough to meet her standards!
Beautiful post, Lisa! The flavors tickled my tastebuds exactly the way I like it. I used sauteed shrimp since I love shrimp a lot with pasta but next time, I think I might try this recipe again with fried chicken since I have a feeling that the sauce would suit better with it.
I read it about 10 times, Where did the Paprika come in?
Oh gosh! So sorry….season the chicken with the salt, pepper, and paprika before sauteing in skillet. I made the change in the recipe card. Thank you for pointing out it was missing!
I’m super excited because I have all of the ingredients except the chicken! This dish is gorgeous and sounds amazing.
What a fun pasta dish! I love bang bang sauce!
This looks really tasty and has the bonus of helping with my time management issues!
That sauce on the pasta look so delicious! I never thought to combine that sauce with pasta. Just shrimp! I’m totally trying this one.
