Cutting back on sweets is pretty easy for me but sometimes I get a craving for something sweet. When that sweet tooth hits and needs to be filled, I truly just want to reach for a bag of chocolate. But – I know better (or convince myself I do.)
So, enter this 5 minute sweet dip to get that fix filled. It’s a healthy, peanut butter dip and I use healthier options to make it. Some peanut butter dips contain cream cheese, not this one and you won’t miss it. I use natural peanut butter, raw honey for sweetener, and vanilla coconut milk yogurt for creaminess. Add a little cinnamon for more flavor and you’ve got a great, light dip for fruit, veggies, and more.
In the five minutes it takes to make this dip and cut up an apple I’m good. Sweet tooth craving filled, and I didn’t demolish a bag of Hershey Kisses. It’s all about balance, right?
January 24 is #NationalPeanutButterDay and to help celebrate that, I’m sharing this recipe along with a few blogger friends and their delicious peanut butter themed recipes. Look for them below the recipe!
Tips for this recipe:
I use a natural peanut butter by choice, but use your favorite brand. Using creamy peanut butter works best. Sometimes I only have crunchy, so I will just blend it in the blender with the rest of the ingredients until smooth.
Using raw honey has more of the benefits and antioxidants over processed honey. Largely due to the filtering process, find out more here.
You can substitute Greek yogurt or regular yogurt for the coconut milk yogurt. When we were doing Paleo, I found I still craved yogurt and this was a way for me to still remain dairy-free.
Leave the cinnamon out if you prefer. Cinnamon is a very health spice to use in recipes. It has been studied that using cinnamon daily (in small doses like 1/2 tsp to 1 tsp) can improve cholesterol and lower blood sugar levels. I love to use it my coffee, on toast, in yogurt, and this peanut butter dip.
Because this is a quick recipe to whip up, you just need a bowl and a whisk or a spoon (licking the spoon is optional.)
