In our area, the kids have already started the new school year; if you’re a parent, you are even busier now.  Making sure homework is done, and clothes are set for the next day, and ensuring your kids are getting healthy meals to give them the energy they need for the day.

My girls are all grown up but when they were in school, they really didn’t have the time to sit down to a big breakfast in the morning, nor did I have the time to make them one.  Most mornings it was a bowl of cereal with fruit, or yes – one of those toaster pastries.  Weekends were for the pancakes and waffles.

Breakfasts don’t have to be an ordeal to prepare.  That’s why I love making smoothie bowls.  They’re easy to prepare (even the night before), easily adapted to suit the fruit of the season, and best of all, healthy, Like I mentioned, my girls are adults so I make these Banana Split Smoothie Bowls for myself and yes, I mixed in a little of Barlean’s Omega Pals flax oil into the yogurt. I mean, we all need those omega 3’s!

Trust me when I say the Omega Pals do not leave a taste (other than yummy) in your mouth AND adding it to smoothies and other foods is great for kids – they won’t even know you did!

That’s a WIN for parents!

Tips for Making Banana Split Smoothie Bowls:

When choosing yogurt the basis of these Banana Split Smoothie Bowls, use what you know your kids will enjoy.  So many choices out there! I prefer coconut milk yogurt but this recipe can be made with any yogurt.

Not a dark chocolate fan? Use regular semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Keep in mind, when making smoothie bowls, you can personalize them with different fruits.  Get the kids involved  with making these.

Make mini smoothie bowls to pack in lunches or have on hand for after-school snacks.

These can also be made the night before and kept in the refrigerator.

I mixed in a little of the Omega Pals in the yogurt, but you can drizzle it over the top instead.

I’ve also been known to enjoy this smoothie bowl while sipping a strawberry oat milk smoothie.
