Peanut Butter Cup Hot Chocolate

Whipping up this Peanut Butter Hot Chocolate is super easy and takes about 20 minutes from start to finish on the stovetop. I typically have the ingredients in my pantry for this drink, so I make it often. Sure, opening a packaged hot cocoa mix and adding hot water is quicker, but that doesn’t always equate to better or more delicious.

I like to use this unsweetened cocoa but you can use any good quality cocoa you like. In my freezer, I keep a bag of mini Reese’s peanut butter cups well hidden so they are there when I get the notion to make peanut butter cup hot cocoa.

While this recipe only makes two servings, you always double or triple it to serve more people. You can also replace the whole milk with any plant-based or nut-free milk you prefer. I’ve made it with oat milk and almond milk with great success. The result no matter what milk you use is a creamy, delicious cup of peanut butter hot chocolate so comforting for your body and soul.

  • Creamy peanut butter works the best in this recipe. I like to use a creamy natural peanut butter with no added sugar.
  • Substitute the peanut butter with almond butter.
  • Top the PB hot chocolate with marshmallows instead of whipped cream.
  • Drizzle a bit of peanut butter or chocolate sauce over the drink
  • Bake a batch of hot chocolate cookies to serve with this drink.
