Country gravy, sawmill gravy, or white pepper gravy are all common names for the same Southern classic. The traditional white gravy is typically a thick, rich sauce made from a roux (flour and fat) combined with milk, salt, and a generous amount of black pepper, which is why it’s often speckled and called “pepper gravy.”
Keep the dry mix sealed in a jar or airtight container at room temperature. When stored properly in the pantry, it stays fresh for up to 6 months.
Unopened non-fat dry milk powder can last between 2 to 10 years past its ‘best by’ date when stored in a cool, dry place away from light. Once opened and transferred to an airtight container, use it within about three months for the best flavor and quality.

- 2 teaspoons black pepper (or to taste)
Instructions
To Make the Gravy Mix:

- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, dry milk, salt, and black pepper, and mix all ingredients well.
