Homemade Peach Simple Syrup
Making your own Homemade Peach Simple Syrup with fresh peaches is an easy and such a delicious flavor to add to iced tea.
I really am not a peach person but every year during peach season I get a craving to eat a fresh peach.
Thank goodness I live in the Peach State AND that a peach orchard is minutes away from my house. I love this place, they not only grow peaches but they have the most beautiful old pecan trees that produce tons of nuts every year. They also harvest various other fruits like strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries but their claim to fame is their peaches and pecans.
Lane Packing Plant is a great place to go any day but on a Sunday afternoon it is jammed packed with after church-goers, families, tourists and anyone who wants to just relax a bit and enjoy lunch and of course homemade peach ice cream. I like to go when it’s not so crowded and just take my time looking at everything in the store and gift shop.
Use Fresh Georgia Peaches in Recipes
Occasionally, I will be there when they are actually packing the peaches and you can watch the process. Last year I took a tour of the plant and all of the fields with my wonderful friend, Debbie and came back with tons of peaches which some turned into a upside down peach cake. Another visit resulted in these grilled peaches with blueberry syrup and this easy to make peach salsa.
This trip I took my daughter, Valerie, with me and wandered around the store and eventually found our way to eating a wonderful lunch there with their peach iced tea. Before we left, I bought plenty of fresh peaches to enjoy.
I already knew I wanted to whip up a batch of Peach Simply Syrup to use in my iced green tea. A certain coffee shop’s employee informed me that the peach flavored tea I love there was only seasonal so I KNEW I had to solve this problem. I love their iced peach green tea! I needed to make my own recipe for peach syrup.
How to Make Homemade Peach Simple Syrup
Of course, I sliced up the peaches we weren’t going to eat and froze them for later uses in the peach simple syrup and for baking, etc. I followed this method for freezing them because, honestly, I don’t have to time to do the blanching method and this works great!
The simple syrup is super easy to make and don’t throw out the peaches when you are done straining the syrup! Freeze them and use them later by heating them up and pouring over ice cream, pancakes, or waffles! Delicious!
Making this homemade peach syrup recipe is super simple
You’ll need two peaches, peeled, pitted, and diced. One cup of sugar and one cup of water. That’s it! If you prefer a less-sweet syrup, decrease the sugar to 3/4 cup but keep the water at 1 cup.
Combine the 3 ingredients in a medium saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring a few times until all of the sugar is dissolved. Takes about 3-5 minutes.
At this point, remove pan from heat and cover. Let steep, covered for 25 minutes. Then strain the peaches from the wonderful pink liquid. Bam! You have your own homemade peach flavored syrup for tea! Let cool and pour into a bottle or glass container. The peach flavoring will keep in the refrigerator for about two weeks.
To use, pour about one tablespoon of the peach simple syrup into your iced tea. Alternatively, you can flavor a whole pitcher of iced tea and to do so, you would simple pour in the desired amount, mixing as you go and tasting to see if it’s to the sweetness you want. So yummy!!

What should you do with the left over peaches?
You could top ice cream with them!
Did it actually end up strong enough to flavor your tea? I know peach is a hard flavor to keep.
Yes it did, Tanya!
Mine wasn’t strong enough. I might try doubling the amount of peach next time, keeping sugar and water the same.
I’ve made batches with peaches that were just perfect flavor wise in the syrup – and then a few that needed more peachy flavor when the peaches weren’t as ripe as others. Doubling would work!
I have a bag of frozen peach slices in the freezer. Can I use these for the peach syrup. How many slices would I use?
Kim, I would use about 2 cups of frozen diced peaches
Would you thaw before boiling or does it not matter?
I typically thaw them before using.
A basic but wonderful peach simple syrup! I am using it to make mocktails for Thanksgiving this year! Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome and I hope you share the recipe for the mocktails!
I got a BIG can of peaches from my Mom. We don’t really eat them that much, but I LOVE peach iced tea!!! Can I use them to make the syrup???
I’ve never used canned peaches to make this, but I’d be interested to know if you try and it works. Are the peaches in a heavy syrup? I would think that may not work with this recipe as you will be adding more sugar. If it is in heavy syrup, maybe try it and add sugar sparingly if needed.
Thank you so much for your response. Maybe I’ll just use them for something else, don’t want to risk wasting the ingredients if it doesn’t work! I’ll wait until Spring and get some fresh ones and try it out!! The recipe looks good & EASY!
How long can they be stored for?? Wonderful recipe by the way!
The syrup can be stored for about a week.
Can I make multiple batches and freeze the syrup or do water bath canning?
I haven’t tried to freeze or can the peach syrup. I’d love to know how it goes if you freeze it!
