This is the last day of #LemonWeek 2022 and I’d like to thank our hosts, Lynn from Fresh April Flours and Rebecca from Devour Dinner for a wonderful week of recipes and fun.  This week is sponsored by Rodelle and La Tourangelle, who generously provided products for me to use in this event’s recipes.

In case you missed Monday and Wednesday’s recipes, I shared this no-churn lemon raspberry cheesecake ice cream and an easy-to-make lemon poke cake. Today, I’ve got a delicious healthy and creamy Lemon Smoothie that I love to make in the mornings.

Creamy Lemon Smoothie

This smoothie is full of citrus flavor from the fresh lemon juice and grated zest. It has healthy fat and that I like. I use a low-carb vanilla yogurt in this drink which is also low in sugar (less than 2 grams of sugar and only 6 grams of carbs). Adding turmeric, ground ginger, and honey bumps up the healthiness. The anti-inflammatory properties in ginger and turmeric can help with pain in the joints or sore muscles. Using a little bit of honey does two things in this smoothie; it will balance the lemon juice out and give you a boost of energy. Lemons are full of vitamin C and all kinds of good antioxidants.

Here’s a great tip for buying Turmeric – it can be pricey but it’s MUCH cheaper if you buy it at your local Asian market, and the container is larger, too.

You can substitute the vanilla yogurt with Greek yogurt if you prefer and if so, that will also add more protein. I don’t care for Greek yogurt so to up the protein, sometimes I will add a scoop of vanilla protein powder to this smoothie. Coconut yogurt is great to use, too.

Quite often I will enjoy this lemon smoothie with this banana split smoothie bowl, but lately I have been loving this acai bowl. Double the delicious flavors and health benefits with both the smoothie and bowl!

Tips for this recipe

Though the smoothie doesn’t need vanilla extract, I like to add a little bit. It seems to bump up all of the flavors in this lemon drink. Rodelle Vanilla is one of our sponsors and I love using their vanillas, especially in this recipe.

I rarely use fresh ginger in this recipe, but if you like fresh grated ginger then use 1 tablespoon of the fresh ginger to replace the ground.

This drink is a win-win: it’s healthy and delicious!

While this recipe makes one large serving, it’s easily adaptable to double or triple. Having a good high speed blender makes it easy to whip all the ingredients together quickly. I love my Ninja blender and while it’s super old, it works like new.

This creamy lemon smoothie recipe is a great way to kick-start your day. It’s even a delicious drink to cool off with on a hot day. No matter when you sip on this refreshing smoothie, it will be super yummy.

I love that this smoothie doesn’t have bananas as the sweetener as most smoothies tend to have. It’s a nice change and lowers the sugar content, too.

    1. Elane…no wonder we’re best friends! I don’t like to share either. I figure if I pour the smoothie into a large enough glass it becomes ONE serving!

  1. Hello Lisa, it’s looking yummy. Lemon is my favorite flavor as it also contains full of vitamin C and all kinds of good antioxidant. It is very easy so I can also make this at home. I will definitely try.

  2. Wow! This recipe had so much potential if I wouldn’t have added 1 tsp of ginger instead of 1/2 tsp!! I kept telling my bf how it would be so good but I couldn’t stand the ginger in it. I just re-read the recipe to find out I put too much. He’s drinking it though so I’ll try again tomorrow 😩! Ohh, I also added frozen strawberries and mixed it(delicious..w/o the extra ginger of course lol)

    1. Oh my! Yes the extra ginger would have me wondering about the taste too! I’m not a ginger fan but the 1/2 tsp was perfect lol

  3. 5 stars
Such a great smoothie, I love the brightness and lightness of it, filling, but lite. Healthy but flavorful!

  4. This has so much I’m trying to increase in my diet! I buy a lot of spices by the pound to save but I’d love to check out a local Asian market anyway!
