Puff Pastry Wrapped Asparagus Bundles
These delicious Puff Pastry Wrapped Asparagus Bundles make a perfect quick and easy appetizer or side dish. Simple to make yet elegant enough to serve at a holiday dinner.
I am always trying to serve vegetables in a new way to keep them from getting boring for my family.
The struggle is real. Can you relate?
These Puff Pastry Wrapped Asparagus Bundles are a win for me in the creativity and serving of healthy foods. My family would rather have carbs with their meat and forego green veggies. Because I want them to have a balanced meal and be healthy, I choose to add vegetables. Sometimes it’s a simple roasted vegetable in the oven; other times I’ll prepare a salad bar of vegetables and fruits to choose from.
Preparing a salad bar of items is twofold – one it’s a great healthy option to go with dinner and second, I’ll have vegetables cut up for the week to use in more salads or other recipes.
Holiday Side Dish Week
Making these asparagus bundles is my way of creating not only a side dish for any night of the week but to serve for the upcoming holidays. I am sharing the recipe as part of this year’s #holidaysidedishes week event. Many of my foodie friends and I are sharing PLENTY of ideas and inspiration with over 45 delicious side dishes. Look for those delicious recipes at the end of this post and all week.
Here’s what I am sharing this week

Puff Pastry Wrapped Asparagus Bundles
I first made these asparagus bundles last Thanksgiving but never had the chance to post the recipe until now. They were a big hit and I was told to double the recipe next time.
I’ll take that win!
Not to mention the win with the minimal prep and ingredients, too. Ten minutes to prep and just five ingredients!
The flavor combo of the garlic and herb cream cheese and asparagus with the crunch of the buttery puff pastry and the everything bagel seasoning is just amazing.
What is Puff Pastry?
Puff Pastry is a dough made of flour, water, salt, and butter. When baked, it becomes a light, flaky pastry, and can be used for sweet or savory recipes. It is sold pre-made in the frozen foods section of the grocery store, usually near the frozen pie crusts. Check out this recipe for pigs in a blanket using puff pastry and this one that’s a twist on biscuits and sausage gravy.
Can I use Crescent Roll Dough?
Yes, you can use crescent roll dough. You’ll follow the recipe as directed but your baking time will be a bit longer (use the crescent rolls baking time on the package).
Can I use Frozen Asparagus?
I wouldn’t recommend using frozen asparagus as the water content of it will make the puff pastry soggy. Fresh asparagus spears are best for this recipe.
How to Use Puff Pastry
Puff pastry sheets work best when it’s cold. It’s easier to handle when it’s cold and it will bake up nice and puffy when it’s cold. This means you’ll have to work quickly when making these. Keep the puff pastry dough in the refrigerator until ready to use. Bake immediately after assembling.
Ingredients
- 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
- flour (for dusting your prep surface)
- 20 pieces of asparagus with ends trimmed
- 8 ounces of garlic and herb cream cheese
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 – 2 tablespoons Everything bagel seasoning (this one is great)
How to Make Puff Pastry Asparagus Bundles
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Lightly spray a baking sheet with nonstick spray or use parchment paper.
Step 2
Roll the puff pastry sheet out and layer generously with cream cheese. Cut puff pastry into 10″ strips using a sharp knife or pizza cutter. Wrap one strip around two stalks of asparagus. Place on prepared baking sheet.
Step 3
Brush each with beaten egg wash and sprinkle with the everything bagel seasoning. Bake for 12-16 minutes, or until puff pastry is golden brown. Serve immediately.
Tips, Tricks, and FAQs
