I’ll admit to eating these finger foods for lunch or an easy snack.
Mini Pigs in a Blanket
The mini pigs in a blanket are so easy to make and even easier to eat! Just 4 ingredients, if you count the egg wash. The little smoked sausages and puff pastry are the main ingredients. Serve them up with dipping sauces like honey mustard, spicy cheese dip, or barbeque sauce. That everything seasoning goes with all of those choices.
What is Everything Seasoning Blend Made of?
Everything bagel seasoning is popular seasoning for bagels. It’s salty and has flavors of onion and garlic with poppy and sesame seeds. You can easily make your own batch and store it in your pantry. The recipe is simple: about a tablespoon each of dried onion, dried garlic, sesame seeds and poppy seeds, and 2 teaspoons of kosher salt. Store in an airtight jar. I like to buy mine already made, but have made it when I am running low. This one is my personal favorite to buy.

Can Mini Pigs in a Blanket be Made Ahead of Time?
Yes, they sure can. Roll the sausages in the puff pastry and place on a baking sheet. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking. Before baking, brush each one with the egg wash as directed in the recipe. Bake as directed.
How to Store Leftovers
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Reheat in oven for a few minutes to crisp up and heat through.
Ingredients
- puff pastry
- beef lil’ smokies
- egg
- everything bagel seasoning
How to Make Everything Bagel Mini Pigs in a Blanket
Step 1
If using frozen puff pastry, allow it to thaw out for about 30 minutes before using. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and spray a baking sheet with non-stick spray, or line with parchment paper, or line with a silicone baking mat. Set aside.
Step 2
Cut unbaked puff pastry sheet into equally sized rectangles. I used one of the smoked sausages as a guide when cutting the puff pastry. I like to have a bit of the sausage showing at the ends. Using a pizza cutter or sharp knife, cut the puff pastry into 5 strips and then each strip into fourths.

Step 3
Roll 1 little sausage in each puff pastry rectangle. Pinch at the seams. Place seam side down onto the baking sheet at least once inch apart. Repeat until all sausages are wrapped.

Step 4
Brush each one with the egg wash and then sprinkle the everything bagel seasoning onto each.

Step 5
Bake wrapped sausages in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until puff pastry is golden brown. Remove sheet pan from oven and serve while warm. If desired, serve with dipping sauces like cheese dip, honey mustard, Dijon mustard, or barbeque sauce.
Such an easy appetizer recipe!
