Air Fryer Glazed Pumpkin Spice Donut Holes

It’s the middle of #PumpkinWeek and I’m sharing my recipe for these air fryer pumpkin spice donut holes.  They are delicious and filled with real pumpkin, spices, and coated with a sweet pumpkin spiced glaze.  The donut holes would be great with your morning coffee or tea or as an afternoon snack.

Have you found some favorites from this week’s pumpkin recipes? I know I sure have!  I hope you are able to check all of them out and enter the giveaway from our wonderful sponsors.  You can do both at the bottom of this post.  In case you missed Monday’s recipe for my Soft Pumpkin Cookies with Cream Cheese Frosting you can visit that here. You may even enjoy these mini pumpkin pie cookies or this pumpkin spiced glazed donut (the whole donut!).  Friday, I’ll be sharing a delicious pumpkin drink!

Back to these donut holes.  I just love them.  Making them in the air fryer is so easy and because you’re not frying with oil, they are healthier and much less of a mess to deal with. I used Dixie Crystals sugar and creamy Cabot Creamery Co-Operative butter in the donut batter.

Dixie Crystals is a staple in my house all the time. It’s good quality sugar.  They are a sponsor of this event and in place of sending sugar this go round, they generously provided supplies for our recipes. I will be sharing what supplies I used throughout the week, beginning with the cute treat bags in the above picture.  The bags make it easier to take some of these Pumpkin Spice Donut Holes to your friends, coworkers, or on the road for a treat for yourself later in the day.  Plus, they will make great containers for when I bake too much and have to send it in with the husband to his work.

Tips to make these Air Fryer Pumpkin Spice Donut Holes:

Start by lining your air fryer basket with a piece of parchment paper.  I tried to use non-stick spray but it didn’t work for this recipe.  The parchment paper worked like a charm.

Mixing the batter for the donut holes is super easy.  As usual, I like to mix the dry and wet ingredients in separate bowls.  Slowly, incorporate the wet into the dry, mixing until just combined.  The batter will be sticky. That’s okay. If you find it’s too sticky to roll dough balls, add flour (up to about 1/4 cup) to the mixture to help.  I also found it helpful to dust my hands with flour to help with the stickiness.

Be sure not to crowd the basket of the air fryer with the donut hole balls.  Air needs to circulate around them. Also, I found that letting the baked donut holes cool completely, the glaze held up better on them.

If you prefer, you can skip the glaze and coat them with pumpkin spice sugar mix.  Melt some butter and roll the donut holes in the butter and then immediately roll into a mixture of sugar and pumpkin spice.

Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Ingredients

For the Donut Holes:

  • 2 1/4 cups Flour
  • 3 tbsp Dixie Crystals sugar
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp Cabot Creamery unsalted butter, melted and cooled slightly
  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 1/2 cup milk

For the glaze:

  • 2 cups Dixie Crystals Powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

To make the donut holes:

  • Line the basket of your air fryer with a piece of parchment paper. I first tried nonstick spray and that was a fail - the parchment paper worked like a charm.
  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice, and salt. Whisk together.
  • In a small bowl, combine the egg, melted butter, pumpkin, and milk, whisk until combined.
  • Using a wooden spoon add the wet ingredients to the dry and blend until just combined.
  • If the dough is too sticky to roll into 1 inch balls, add a little flour to the batter - don't add more than 1/4 cup total. I also found it easier to dust my hands with flour while rolling the balls.
  • Place donut balls into basket of air fryer - make sure you don't crowd them. I was able to get five easily into mine.
  • Set the air fryer to 350 degrees for about 7-9 minutes. Checking and shaking the donout holes halfway through. Remove from basket when done and let cool completely on wire rack before glazing.

To make the glaze:

  • Combine the powdered sugar with the pumpkin pie spice and whisk gently. Add the milk and vanilla. Whisk together until the glaze is smooth. It will be runny - this is perfect.
  • Dip each donut hole into the glaze rolling so that all sides are covered with the glaze. Set on wire rack so the glaze can dry and harden before eating.

A lot has happened since then, but our belief has remained the same: Flavor for All, Opportunity for All. It means that not only are the products we make inclusive and approachable, but so is our success. We believe everything starts with people, and the only way to truly succeed is to succeed together. Today, you can use more than 100 of our naturally flavored syrups, sauces and beverage bases in coffees, sodas, teas, smoothies, cocktails and more.

PRIZE#4 CABOT CREAMERY CO-OPERATIVE

Cabot is giving one winner a gift box of assorted Cabot cheeses.

The farm families that own Cabot Creamery Co-operative love what they do. And they’ve been doing it for a long time—every single day since 1919. Almost 100 years later, we’re proud of our thriving farms, strong communities, and happy, healthy cows that produce the rich, buttery milk that we use to make Cabot’s award-winning cheese and dairy products. We like to think those awards mean we’re doing something right. Of course, you’re a big part of this too. If you love eating our cheese as much as we love making it, then we’ll get to keep doing what we do for generations to come.
