I am not a fan of eggnog, unless it’s the form of a baked good such as these Eggnog Blossom Cookies or this Holiday Eggnog Bread. I just never acquired the taste for the drink but I can eat this bread all day long. The eggnog bread comes together quickly and bakes beautifully. You can slice it and eat without the sweet eggnog glaze and those cute sprinkles, but add those make it even better.
This festive bread will look great on your dessert tables this holiday season.
For this recipe, I used Dixie Crystals sugar and creamy Cabot Creamery Co-Operative butter in the batter. Dixie Crystals is a staple in my house all the time. It’s good quality sugar. I also use Cabot Creamery Co-operative products in baking and cooking. I mean the cheese alone is the best! Both companies are first time sponsors of this event, and we totally love them.
Tips to Make This Holiday Eggnog Bread:
As most of my baking recipes start out, whisk your dry ingredients in a bowl and set aside. This makes the recipe go smoothly and you don’t have stop and measure them out in the midst of the mixing.
Be sure your butter is melted and cooled before adding it to the recipe, too.
I experimented with the amount of nutmeg, and the 2 and 1/4 teaspoons is perfect for this recipe. It may seem like a lot but trust me.
If you prefer to skip the vanilla extract and use rum extract in place of it, you can. I didn’t have any on hand to do that.
Every oven is different, so check your bread at about 30 minutes and go from there. Mine took about 45 minutes to be done perfectly.
For the glaze, simply whisk the ingredients for it together an drizzle over cooled bread. Add festive sprinkles, or not.

Holiday Eggnog Bread

For the Eggnog Bread:
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup eggnog
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted, and cooled
- 1 tsp vanilla
For the Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp eggnog
- dash nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spary the bottom of a 9" x 5" loaf pan with non-stick spray; set aside.
- Combine and whisk the dry ingredients in a medium bowl (flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg.)
- In a large bowl mix together the eggs, sugar, butter, eggnog, and vanilla.
- Add flour mixture to wet ingredients and mix until all combined.
- Pour batter into prepared loaf pan. Bake for 35-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Every oven is different, baking time may differ by a few minutes.
- Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes in pan; then turn out on a wire rack to cool completely before adding the glaze.
- To make the glaze: in a small bowl mix together powdered sugar with eggnog and dash of nutmeg. You want the glaze thick but pourable. Spoon over cooled bread and immediately add your sprinkles. Let glaze set before slicing and enjoying.

I’m like you too, won’t drink the stuff but put it in baking and I’m all over it! I bake eggnog bread every Christmas too and it’s one of my favorite loaves during the holidays. Mine doesn’t look near as pretty as yours though! Pinned

How many eggs? Recipe up top doesn’t have eggs
THank you Patricia! I have corrected the recipe, it’s 2 eggs!
Thanks!! How can I store the loaf till Christmas?
After you bake it, let it cool completely. Wrap in a double layer of foil and freeze. The morning you need it, let it thaw and then prepare the icing and drizzle it on after the bread is thawed.
Love eggnog, and I’m going to love making this cake. That it has an eggnog frosting just makes it even better! Thanks for the tips on nutmeg and rum extract.
