Quick and Easy Green Beans and Bacon Skillet
This Quick and Easy Green Beans and Bacon Skillet is a perfect last minute side dish for any holiday dinner or weeknight dinner. In under 10 minutes, this dish is ready to serve.
I’m all for the classic green bean casserole ( I add cheese to mine) but at the holidays, oven space is highly limited as is the slow cooker. What’s my answer? This Quick and Easy Green Beans and Bacon Skillet. It’s ready to serve in 10 minutes so it can be made while the turkey is being carved and the table is being set.
It’s not a casserole with creamed soup, instead it has crispy bacon, shallots, and garlic with those French Style cut green beans. It’s so good! It was a hit when I made it this summer and I’ve made it several times since.
This green bean skillet will be showing up this Thanksgiving as I plan to make it easier on me since I’m the one doing all of the cooking and baking.
Speaking of Thanksgiving (and the holiday season), this is the last recipe this week for #HolidaySideDishes. Have you found some new favorites? I sure have. Look for more delicious recipes at the end of each post this week.
Here’s What I’m Serving Up This Week:

Quick and Easy Green Beans and Bacon Skillet
I have to say that every time we have this on the menu, it’s because I have forgotten to plan the vegetable part of our meal. Lately, we’ve been having more fruit and vegetables with our meals than a starchy carb. That has its pros and cons, ya know?!
Because this side dish only takes 10 minutes to make and one pan, it is the perfect side dish if you’re short on time. Let’s face it, holidays are already stressful, so having easy recipes on hand eliminates a little of that stress.
This recipe does use a couple of shortcuts, but if you prefer (and I have made this recipe a few different ways), you can take a few extra minutes to fry that bacon up yourself. Do so the day before. You can use frozen French Style green beans, just thaw and pat dry before using adding them to the skillet. I actually prefer to use the thawed frozen but sometimes my grocery store is out. You can also use fresh green beans, it would just a couple of extra minutes to the cooking time. No shallots? No problem! Use onion of your choice. I’ve used yellow and red with the same delicious results.
Ingredients
- skillet (I used this cast iron pan)

French cut green beans are under appreciated, I think. I love that you used them in this recipe.
