Air Fryer French Toast Sticks
These Air Fryer French Toast Sticks are quick and easy to make, crispy on the outside, and fluffy on the inside. Dunk them in warm maple syrup or top them with fresh berries. They are perfect for a quick breakfast and they freeze great!
French Toast Sticks are everything you love about French Toast but faster to make in the air fryer and less mess. I love to make a batch of these French toast sticks on busy mornings. There’s no standing at the stove flipping slices and trying to keep the slices warm. While I love making Cinnamon Bread French Toast on the griddle, I love the cinnamon sugar coating these French toast sticks.
Weekends are made for this Apple Pie French Toast Casserole but on busy mornings when I have a million things to do, Air Fryer French toast sticks are the winner. I tend to make a double batch and then freeze what Mom and I don’t have for breakfast for future meals.
While you have the Air Fryer out, grab a can of biscuits to make these Air Fryer Biscuit Donuts to serve along with the French Toast Sticks. They’re great to dip in maple syrup, too.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
Air Fryer French Toast Sticks
Air fryer french toast sticks are a fun twist on the classic breakfast treat. They’re made by cutting thick slices of bread into sticks, dipping them in a mixture of eggs, milk, and spices, then air-frying them until golden brown and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I like to sprinkle a light coating of cinnamon sugar on the sticks before I air fryer them.
This is such a kid-friendly breakfast because they can eat them with their hands and dip them in syrup. Big kids can do that too, just saying.
What Kind Of Bread Should I Use For French Toast Sticks?
I recommend bread like Texas Toast or if you use a loaf of brioche, cut the slices thick. You want the slices to be hearty enough to hold up in the batter and when air frying.
How do you freeze French Toast Sticks?
I like to flash freeze the slices of French toast. To do this, I line a baking sheet that will fit in my freezer with parchment paper and lay the cooled (cooked) sticks on the pan with space between them. Freeze until firm and then toss in a freezer safe container or freezer bag. Doing it this way will keep the separated and not one big frozen piece.
Alternatively, you can wrap each one in plastic wrap and place them in a freezer bag, taking out what you need.
how long to cook french toast sticks in air fryer
If you are making them fresh, as I did in this recipe, you will air fry them at 400 degrees for 8 – 10 minutes, turning halfway through. If you are cooking them from the frozen state, add 2 – 4 minutes to the cooking time.
Timesaving Tips and Variations
- Thick slices of bread are best for this recipe.
- You can use any milk product you like.
- Use a serrated knife to slice the bread, it will keep the bread from getting squished while you are slicing.
- Don’t soak the bread in the batter, just enough to get it coated.
- Don’t overcrowd the air fryer, cook in batches if needed. You want the air to circulate around the sticks and get crispy.
- Omit the cinnamon sugar coating if you want a traditional French Toast taste.
- Make a double batch of these bread sticks and freeze them for a quick and easy breakfast in the future.
