Nutter Butter Snowman Cookies

These charming Nutter Butter Snowman Cookies are the perfect easy, no-bake treat to totally brighten up your holiday baking season. They would be so cute to add to a tray with Nutter Butter Reindeer Cookies! We’re just taking that favorite peanut butter sandwich cookie and turning it into an adorable, festive snowman.

It’s super easy and fun for kids to help make, too. You can whip up a huge batch of these peanut-buttery snowmen in no time for your festive gathering. The sweet, smooth candy coating paired with the salty-sweet peanut butter creates a delightful flavor combination that tastes as great as these little treats look.

Making holiday treats is one of my favorite parts of the season, and these Nutter Butter Snowman Cookies are so playful. We love making them alongside Pretzel Rolo Turtles while listening to holiday music. I like to add something classic too, like my Soft & Chewy Cranberry White Chocolate Chip Cookies, which adds a festive touch to the dessert trays.

Nutter Butter Snowman Cookies

The best part about this recipe is how easy it is! We’re using Nutter Butters because they already come in the perfect oval shape for a snowman. We also use simple, pre-made items like candy melts, decorating gels, and M&Ms.

I love that this can be a family activity, too. Dipping the cookies and sticking on the candy “buttons” doesn’t require any fancy skills. You can customize them with different colors or candy details, and they hold up well for gifting or sharing. This recipe is the perfect mix of whimsy, convenience, and holiday spirit.

Timesaving Tips and Variations

This recipe is already quite simple to make but there are few tips to customize and make the whole process smooth.

  • Swap M&Ms for mini chocolate chips or candy pearls for different button styles.
  • Add colored sanding sugar before the coating sets for a frosty sparkle.
  • Instead of a full scarf, add a little melted chocolate “hat” to the top third of the cookie before the white coating sets for a different look.

These options allow you to personalize each one while keeping the process simple. Mix and match colors or candies to fit your creative mind. Kids especially enjoy experimenting with different scarf and button combinations.

Other Holiday Treats to Enjoy

No holiday platter is complete without a variety of festive sweets! To make your dessert table truly spectacular, consider adding a few of those delicious treats.

These treats not only add variety to your holiday spread but also keep everyone coming back for more. Don’t forget to have some festive drinks to serve, too.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make these cookies ahead of time?

Yes, these keep well when stored in an airtight container. The candy coating protects the cookies and helps them stay fresh. For the best appearance, store them in a cool spot away from direct heat.

How should I store the Nutter Butter Snowman Cookies?

Store the completed snowman treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. If your kitchen is very warm, you can store them in the refrigerator, but allow them to come to room temperature before serving for the best texture.

Can I use white chocolate chips instead of candy melts?

While you can use white chocolate chips, they may require the addition of a little coconut oil or shortening to achieve a smooth, dippable consistency, as they tend to be thicker and seize more easily than candy melts. Candy melts are specifically formulated to melt smoothly.

How to Make Nutter Butter Snowman Cookies

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Melt the white candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second intervals and stirring between each session. Dip each sandwich cookie into the melted candy, tap off extra coating, and place on the parchment.

Add three M&Ms of the same color to the lower center portion of each cookie. Chill for 5 minutes until set, then add scarf lines with matching gel. Pipe on eyes and a mouth with black icing. Attach an orange sprinkle nose using a tiny dab of melted candy.

Allow to set before serving. You can refrigerate for a few minutes to speed this process up. The decorating gel may not harden, but it will get a little firmer.

Instructions

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking, and prepare your workspace with all decorating elements within easy reach.
  • Add the white candy melts to a small microwave-safe bowl and heat in the microwave for 30-second intervals until fully melted, stirring well between each heating session to ensure smoothness.
  • Dip each cookie completely into the melted candy coating, using a fork to lift it out; gently tap the fork against the bowl edge to remove any excess coating. Set the dipped cookies onto the prepared parchment paper.
  • Immediately place three M&Ms of the same color (either red or green) down the center of the bottom portion of each coated cookie to create the snowman's "buttons".
  • Refrigerate the baking sheet for approximately 5 minutes to allow the white candy coating and the attached M&Ms to fully set and harden before continuing with the detailed decorations.
  • Use the red or green decorating gel to draw a horizontal line across the center of the cookie (above the M&M buttons), then add a small, short line angling down from the main line to create a scarf tail.
  • Transfer the black icing to a piping bag with a tiny snip at the end, and carefully pipe two dots for the eyes and a small, smiling curve for the mouth onto the top section of the cookie.
  • Use a toothpick to dab a tiny dot of the melted white candy onto the back of an orange sprinkle and arrange it between the eyes and the mouth to serve as the snowman's nose.
