Who can resist Tater Tots? This crispy potato product is the base for these Loaded Tater Tot Skewers. The loaded tater tot kabobs make a great grab-and-go snack that everyone can enjoy. Serve them up while watching a game, or movie, or even as lunch.

Loaded Tatot Tot Skewers are even great to serve as a side to grilled burgers and hot dogs. We enjoy them with Slow Cooker Sloppy Joes or these Easy Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches. The Tater Tot Kabobs would also be delicious with wings.

Ingredients

  • Tater Tots (about 48 tots)
  • ½ cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • ¼ cup real bacon PIECES, not bits 
  • 1-2 green onions, sliced

Directions

Step 1

Preheat oven to 425 degrees, spray a large baking sheet with nonstick spray, add the frozen tater tots in a single layer, and bake the tater tots according to the package directions, for about 25 – 28 minutes, flipping them once halfway through.

Step 2

Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. When they’re cool enough to pick up with your fingers, add 4 to 6 tater tots to each skewer. Place the skewers on a parchment lined baking sheet. and top the tots with the shredded cheese.

Step 3

Then add the bacon bits and half of the chopped green onion.

Step 4

Return them to the oven and bake for another 5 to 7 minutes until the cheese is melted. Remove from the oven, place on a serving platter, and sprinkle them with the remaining green onions. Serve with sour cream or your favorite dipping sauce.

Tips, Tricks, and FAQs

  • Try using Pepper Jack cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, Colby Jack, or your favorite blend in place of the cheddar cheese.
  • If you prefer to fry up a few slices of crispy bacon to crumble over the tater tots, go for it.
  • Other toppings you may enjoy: diced jalapenos, diced ham, and diced onion.
  • Replace the bacon with cooked ground sausage.
  • Dipping sauces like ranch dip or ranch dressing are great with this appetizer.
  • Ketchup, BBQ sauce, and honey mustard are also yummy dipping sauces.
  • I do not recommend making the Loaded Tater Tots ahead of time, as they are best eaten warm.
