These boo-ti-ful strawberry mummies just make me smile and they’re so simple to make. Grab ripe strawberries, melt some chocolate, and drizzle. Bam! Done! Easy Halloween treats that the whole family will love.
You don’t have to be a cake decorator to make these. Those white chocolate drizzles are just zig-zagged across the strawberries and the melted chocolate chips are just dots for the eyes. Perfection is not required, either. It’s a no-fail recipe! That’s the best part, in my opinion.

What’s the Secret to Perfect Chocolate-Covered Strawberries?

How to Make Easy Strawberry Mummies for Halloween
Step 1
Rinse the strawberries and allow them to dry completely (pat dry if need be) before continuing. If your fresh berries are not dry, the chocolate may not stick.
Step 2
Line a baking sheet or tray with parchment paper. Set the strawberries on the parchment paper, an inch or so apart.
Step 3
Add the white chocolate chips to a microwave-safe bowl, and heat in 30-second intervals, stirring between each heat session, until fully melted.
Step 4
Add the melted white chocolate to a piping bag equipped with a small round piping tip, and pipe the white chocolate in a back-and-forth (zig-zag) motion over the strawberries, making the “mummy wrapping”. Continue the drizzling lines for all the strawberries.
Step 5
Melt the chocolate chips, and add the melted chocolate to a pastry bag equipped with a small round piping tip. Pipe the eyes onto the mummies.
Step 6
Allow the chocolate to set, then enjoy the sweet treat.
Tips, Tricks, and FAQs
- If you find your chocolate is too thick, add a bit of shortening to thin it.
- You can use white chocolate melting wafers in place of the white chocolate chips.
- Can you make the strawberries in advance? I don’t recommend making them more than a couple of hours in advance for the best flavor.
- Store the strawberry mummies at room temperature if you are serving them soon. Leftover strawberries can be placed on a plate (uncovered) in the refrigerator for 1 or 2 days.
- Be sure the strawberries are dry before adding the melted chocolate.
- If you don’t have a piping bag, you can easily use a ziplock bag. Just cut a small piece from the corner tip of the bag.
- You can use candy eyes in place of melted chocolate chips for eyes. Even mini chocolate chips work. Or if you prefer, you can use melted dark chocolate.
