Breakfast on the weekends in my house means we have a huge meal that will keep us full until dinner. Most of the time it’s this Easy French Toast recipe with a breakfast charcuterie board. Sitting around the breakfast table discussing what’s planned for the day and enjoying a great meal is the best!

Ever since I learned how to make French toast, it’s been a staple in my recipe box. It’s a simple and delicious meal with ingredients that are very common to have in the refrigerator at all times and it’s easy to make 2 servings or 20.

Easy French Toast

The reason French toast is easy to make is because it uses a simple egg and milk mixture that you dip thick slices of bread into and then cook in a skillet or on a griddle. Thick slices of bread like Brioche bread, Challah bread, or Texas toast bread can be used, or even regular slices of sandwich bread. Whatever you have.

Adding vanilla extract to the egg mixture is always recommended for even more flavor. In this easy French Toast recipe, vanilla is added as is a pinch of nutmeg which adds the perfect amount of extra flavor. Adding cinnamon to French toast batter is also common as I did in this Cinnamon French Toast recipe. One of my favorite ways to serve French Toast is with fruit syrups such as this Blackberry Simple Syrup or an easy Strawberry Sauce. Drizzle some of the sweet fruit syrup over your French Toast in place of the maple syrup.

Note: You may need to work in batches and to keep the French toast warm while you cook the rest, place them on a baking sheet in a 200°F oven until you’re ready to serve.
