I love that most Slow Cooker Recipes require minimal effort. This BBQ Pulled Beef is one of those recipes. Simply toss the ingredients into the slow cooker and let it do the work. Can’t get easier than that and it’s a perfect make-ahead meal too.

A plate with a slow cooker BBQ beef sandwich on a bun and a side of coleslaw. The sandwich has a generous amount of shredded beef covered in a thick, dark sauce. The coleslaw is ion a blue plate and is made with shredded cabbage and carrots.

Have I mentioned to you that I love my slow cooker? I do.  It’s true.  It’s been one of those weeks where I need to have easy-planned meals so that I can concentrate on the tasks to be accomplished. I found a beef roast in the freezer and I knew exactly what I was going to have for dinner the next night, these BBQ Pulled Beef Sandwiches.

While I used a bottle of our favorite store-bought barbeque sauce, I’ve made this recipe using the homemade sauce from this Sweet Heat BBQ Chicken with great success. We like to serve them with this Creamy Coleslaw with Poppy Seed Dressing or Slow Cooker BBQ Green Beans with Bacon. The beef sandwiches are really delicious with any side you prefer.

There’s something magical about letting beef slow cook for hours until it becomes irresistibly tender. Your house will be filled with the mouthwatering aroma of slow-cooked beef, and you’ll barely have to lift a finger. This Barbeque Shredded Beef recipe is super simple. I use just four ingredients and then cook the roast until I can shred it. It’s a great dinner idea for busy nights or to make for game day festivities.

A sturdy bun is essential for building the perfect BBQ Beef Sandwich. A flimsy bun will fall apart under the juicy, saucy beef. I opted for a homemade hard roll from the bakery, and it held up like a champ, adding the perfect touch of softness without sacrificing structure.

What Cut of Beef to Use for Pulled Beef Sandwiches?

I like to use a chuck roast for the perfect BBQ beef sandwich. It’s rich in marbling and breaks down beautifully after hours in the slow cooker. This is what gives you that fall-apart texture that BBQ dreams are made of! When selecting your beef, opt for a 3-4 pound roast—enough for the whole family or leftovers you’ll be craving.

What Type of BBQ Sauce to Use?

You really want a good quality sauce or a homemade sauce to use to make BBQ Beef. I tend to use Sweet Baby Rays or make a homemade sauce. It really is a personal preference and if you like spicy or sweet flavors.

  1. Let the slow cooker do all the work! We are big Bay Ray’s fans here too, especially when you use it like this to flavor the meat and soak up it’s flavor at the same time.

  2. We love Sweet Baby Rays! These sandwiches sound delish!
