Because this recipe takes about 7 hours to make, it's perfect to start in the morning and it will be ready when you get home. Use whatever BBQ sauce you like or create a homemade one like this Cherry Bourbon BBQ Sauce. There's no need to brown the roast before you place it in the slow cooker, but you definitely do so. Add some sliced jalapenos or pepperoncini peppers to the crock pot for a spicy taste. This recipe is perfect for making ahead of time. Prepare the beef and sauce and store it in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Leftover BBQ beef can be frozen for later. Store it in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months.
